My best friend is in a sorority at UF and the other day after browsing Pintrest mindlessly after a day at the beach she suggested we do some crafting! Now lets make one thing clear I am not artsy and I suck at crafts. But we went to Hobby Lobby, got some supplies, and headed back to her house! She got an oval wooden plaque, a cute hook to drill into the wooden oval, and some paint. Her idea was to paint on a purple and blue floral pattern and then drill in the hook. This way she could hang it on the wall and have a cute place to put her keys! It came out really cute! I wish I had a picture. I, on the other hand, just bought a wooden box and some stencils and painted it, it was simple but still really fun! Crafts are a sorority girls “thing” so it was fun to hear all of my best friends ideas of what to craft and the best way to go about it! Next time I am going to make a row of hooks to hang all my hats and scarves on!
This is how my box turned out!:
It was also nice to be over at my best friends house and get to see her parents and brothers. We’ve been friends since middle school and I like to consider her family my second family. After dinner we went to Mochi’s Frozen Yogurt. I got red velvet cake and creme brûlée fro-yo! It was sooo good, and I topped it all off with crushed oreos!
I don’t know if you can tell or not but I snuck a bite or two before I snapped the pic! Oops!
I promised some time ago that the next music monday post would be happier and more upbeat! So without further ado…THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS! (and no, not this guy here below).
I also just made plans to visit my best friend to go and see Luke Bryan’s Farm Tour this October! I love all types of music, country included, and even if you aren’t a country music fan have you seen Mr. Bryan’s rear? The man was blessed in the ASSets department 😉 So in honor of the Farm Tour here is a little country to kick off your week!
So while technically my laptop is telling me that it is 1:42 AM on Tuesday morning I have yet to go to sleep so my brain is still saying its Monday. Also on the West Coast of the US it is still Monday…so I think this qualifies as a solid Music Monday post (even if I do live on the East Coast). YAY! I’m going with I didn’t miss it!
So just a lil message to all y’all out there. Today’s song and last weeks song both have some variation of the word “Death” in the song and song title. So just a PSA (public service announcement for all y’all who ain’t in with the government issued slang) I am not in a dark place, nor am I angry, upset, or sad. I’m actually very happy…I just post music that I like…so yeah! I promise to post something more happy and positive next week!
The Pretty Reckless, fronted by Taylor Momsen, whom you may recognize as Jenny Humphrey from Gossip girl, formed in 2007. When I first heard of this band back when Gossip Girl was still on TV (post Jenny Humphrey seasons) I was reluctant to listen to The Pretty Reckless simply because of Momsen’s relation to one of my favorite TV dramas. Fast-forward to today and I heard a song on the radio as I was heading home from World Market. I looked it up as soon as I got home and who-wuda-thunk-it…it was the Pretty Reckless! I looked up a handful more of their songs and it isn’t half bad! Give it a chance and Momsen might just surprise you!
UH OH guess what day it is. Guess. What. Day. It. Is! …MONDAY! (you thought I was going to say “Hump Day” didn’t you?) I did not forget about Music Monday today, not uh, no sir I did not. This week its a lil bit of Lil Wayne, young weezy, coming atcha. My new roommate actually played this song in her car the other day for my other roommate who in turn showed it to me last night. I cannot get this song out of my head! If you follow my blog you will quickly realize I like some weird, strange things. Like voice at the start of the song saying “I feel like dying”. Its kind of creepy, and child-like demonic…and the sound gets caught in my mind. Give this song a try, if its not for you then, well…stop listening to it! Have a kick-ass Monday everyone!
When life gives the the opportunity to use one of the most overused Legally Blonde lines for a blog title, you take it!
Scripted lines or not this statement stands true. Exercise does indeed give you endorphins and endorphins do make people happy, Elle Woods was no liar. I used to absolutely detest going to the gym, every last thing about it. To this day it is still not one of my favorite things to do, more like a chore I need to cross off my list. But like most chores it is the after-reward that makes it worth it. Just like cleaning your room is a pain, you can’t deny how much better you feel once it is cleaned. Same with the gym. Once you put in your hard work and time you get to go home, take a hot shower, and you feel amazing! I always find it easier to smile after a workout. I, as many white girls in their twenties, suffer from BRF (bitchy resting face).
After putting some time in at the gym smiling seems to come easier and I am typically in a happier mood! THAT is what keeps me going to the gym.
The title of this post is usually how I respond to my mom when she is pestering me about being lazy, so I thought it fit nicely. I know I’ve been slippin’. You don’t have to tell me twice, or once for that matter. I’ve missed two music monday posts, but I’ve just been busy! The real world is a pretty demanding place!! But I am doing my best to do better. Honestly and truly. I even bought a planner yesterday, & if that doesn’t mean business then I don’t know what does. So you can start to expect more from me!
MUSIC MONDAYS! I am going to start trying to upload a song every Monday. It will just be the song I’ve been into most recently into. But you have been warned I have a very eclectic taste in music. Today could be pop, next week could be country, and alternative or rap/hip hop could come after. I’ll keep y’all guessing 🙂 This song, not only is really pretty, but I love the message it sends out towards everyone, especially women. And if you’ll notice my “tagline” are lyrics to this song.
**And yes, I am aware that today is Tuesday but I just couldn’t wait a whole week to post this! Plus I want to keep this blog and my tumblr (unveiledmirrorz.tumblr.com) in sync.
